Melissa Harrell

At fourteen years old, Melissa had her first glimpse into general aviation. She was hooked and willing to take on any task. She began counting aircraft inventory parts at a local maintenance shop during her school breaks. The opportunity evolved and Melissa was asked to be a full-time receptionist at 17 years old. With the support of her teachers, she was able to complete her senior year of high school via independent study.  She knew it was a bold move, but she had to listen to her gut and take the leap of faith.

Melissa has since worked at various airports in San Diego and held a diverse list of roles within the field of “Business Aviation.”  Some of those roles have included customer service, maintenance project management, and repair station document procurement to name a few. Melissa’s dynamic experience has led her to her current role in Business Development for a local San Diego FBO. There, she establishes the service level standards, customer acquisition & retention strategies, fuel sale strategies, etc., while leading a team of Customer Service Representatives.  Previous to her current role, Melissa managed the accounting of a Carlsbad based FBO. All of these skills make Melissa the ideal candidate to service as Treasurer for our San Diego Chapter.

Melissa is thrilled to join WAI so that she can contribute her talents to an organization that promotes education and empowers young aviators.
