We are the San Diego Chapter of Women in Aviation International (WAI), a nonprofit 501c3 organization dedicated to providing networking, education, mentoring and scholarship opportunities for women who are striving for challenging and fulfilling careers in the aviation and aerospace industries.
Our San Diego chapter has over 70 members including private, charter, corporate, airline and military pilots; student pilots and flight instructors; aerospace engineers; airport managers and General Aviation business staff; flight attendants; air traffic controllers; and aviation enthusiasts. We focus on networking, career development and mentoring, fun events and tours, and are huge supporters of STEM (science, technology, engineering and math).
Our 5th annual Girls in Aviation Day was held on October 5-6, 2019 on the USS Midway. The museum hosted 200 girls between the ages of 8 to 17 on a specially tailored, aviation-themed Youth Overnight Program. Click on the "Girls in Aviation Day" tab to see more!
Monica Brown Murray is the General Manager for Signature Flight Support at SAN but has been in aviation since 1992.
There are many, many ways to have a successful career in aviation that don’t involve flying a plane! Signature Flight Support is a great example of this with over 5000 employees in North America working in all aspects of aviation, marketing, accounting, business development, sales, operations, HS&E and so on. She has had a fantastic career as an aviation professional in support of those fly, and wouldn’t change a thing!
2019 Girls in Aviation Day was a smashing success!
Postponed until May
