We are the San Diego Chapter of Women in Aviation International (WAI), a nonprofit 501c3 organization dedicated to providing networking, education, mentoring and scholarship opportunities for women who are striving for challenging and fulfilling careers in the aviation and aerospace industries.
Our San Diego chapter has over 60 members including private, charter, corporate, airline and military pilots; student pilots and flight instructors; aerospace engineers; airport managers and General Aviation business staff; flight attendants; air traffic controllers; and aviation enthusiasts. We focus on networking, career development and mentoring, fun events and tours, and are huge supporters of STEM (science, technology, engineering and math).
Our 4th annual Girls in Aviation Day was held on October 13, 2018 at the San Diego International Airport. Click on the "Girls in Aviation Day" tab to see more!

Born and raised in Montréal Québec, Dr. Janet Lapp was inspired to fly when, as a child at a local airstrip in Canada, she would sit for hours on the grass watching small airplanes magically lift into the sky.
Education and family followed, and it wasn’t until her late 30's and a move to California
for a university faculty position in Neuro-psychology that she was able to earn her pilot’s license.
Congratulations to our Scholarship Winner
