We are the San Diego Chapter of Women in Aviation International (WAI), a nonprofit 501c3 organization dedicated to providing networking, education, mentoring and scholarship opportunities for women who are striving for challenging and fulfilling careers in the aviation and aerospace industries.

Our San Diego chapter has over 60 members including private, charter, corporate, airline and military pilots; student pilots and flight instructors; aerospace engineers; airport managers and General Aviation business staff; flight attendants; air traffic controllers; and aviation enthusiasts. We focus on networking, career development and mentoring, fun events and tours, and are huge supporters of STEM (science, technology, engineering and math).

Our 4th annual Girls in Aviation Day was held on October 13, 2018 at the San Diego International Airport. Click on the "Girls in Aviation Day" tab to see more!

Julie Keane wondered as a child, “How do those big, heavy airplanes get off the ground and fly?” Today, Julie holds  Commercial SE SEA, Multi-Engine, ATP and CFI/CFII/MEI ratings. Julie opened her flight training business at Ramona Airport and became a Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE).. Julie even taught her family to fly! Her husband, an Air Traffic Controller, is now a Commercial and Instrument-rated pilot, and her children are both Private Pilots. Julie spends her days teaching people to fly and giving checkrides in the San Diego area.
